The Natural
Landscape
Mary admires the 18th century watercolorists who were the topographical recorders of the Westward movement. She continues to translate landscapes by looking through a scene and capturing its essence on a flat surface using colors to create the depth of the image. "The 18th century watercolorists captured the spirit and drama of the natural landscape. I am inspired by the views of the world and like to be part of the seeing, the feeling, and the recording chain of watercolors." -Mary Spivey |
