As a fourth
generation Californian, Judy Welsh was born in
Long Beach and grew up in the coastal town of Santa Barbara. Her love of the
outdoors has been nurtured by the beauty of her state, from the sea to the Sierras.
Since early childhood, painting has been a way of "seeing" for Judy, as she
watched and participated while her mother taught painting classes. University training brought more serious involvement in art for Judy, resulting in a Degree in Fine Art and eventually graduate work at San Jose State University. |
As a
freelance artist, Judy has painted and drawn in
all mediums. Her work is represented in private and public collections. She
has been guest artist at several one-person privately sponsored art shows, as well as an
artistic consultant for home and business concerns. By invitation she has
participated in the Santa Clara University Annual Art and Flowers Show at the De Saisset
Museum. Judy was also invited to exhibit her work at the Silicon Ball, Santa Clara
Valley's most gala annual event. She has received awards for her work from a variety
of organizations and events, although she considers her greatest achievement to be the
loving and raising of three children to become wonderful adults. Charlotte's Gift Watercolor 23 x 15 Prints $195 |

Artist
Statement The joy of echoing the Creator by
giving birth to a work in just "my way," authenticates uniqueness. The
ability to create is a gift that produces the greatest delight within me. I love the
juicy pigment of watercolor and it's seductive translucency. The allusiveness of
control over the medium contributes to the exhilaration when a "winner" finally
is produced. It is this process, that captivates me. The
